I started calling the column Boomer Angst in 1988 after the birth of my children Elizabeth in 1984 and David in 1987. Then as now, I used it as a vehicle to write about the generation of Baby Boomers, of whom I am a proud member, having been born in 1953.
I write about trends and issues, as they affect Baby Boomers - retirement, long-term care, encore careers, etc.
I also write about myself. By personalizing my writing, I address issues that involve all of us as parents, as employees, as members of society. I look backwards sometimes in an effort to put my behavior today into some context with my growing up years. I sometimes look forward -- to the uncertainties of retirement and aging. Most often I just look around me to comment on what I see, what I hear, what I experience in the normal flow of day-to-day life.
